Maelstrom Cannon
The boat hasn't sailed yet, but Maelstrom Cannon is looking to be the winner. If you would rather see Hyperion, Excalibur, Annihilator, or Penetrator be its name vote now: http://www.moddb.com/mods/brewlan/forum/thread/uef-experimental-point-defence-name If you would rather one of the other names win, good luck.

It's a small thing, but I added a new turret to the turrets side-mod. It is literally the plasma beam cannon from the Neptune Class. Next to the anti-armour point defence for scale.

Excalibur defends the coast
After a steady lead by Maelstrom, Excalibur took a clear lead by the polls close. It bore the name Maelstrom for a short while whilst it also bore a beam weapon. It is however now an actual rail gun projectile weapon, with shots that pierce targets. It technically has a ballistic arc, but with by far the fasted projectile speed in the game, the projectile arc never really factors in. As a technical restriction of the target-piercing shots, it has no damage radius; when any kind of AoE was involved, it lost the co-ordinates of where the explosion should have been, and as a result explosions where happening where it was when it made the calculation, as opposed to where it was when the impact occurred. As a result, it can only damage multiple enemies at a time when they are lined up. It looks less cool whilst doing it, but the fact that it basically just makes explosions happen is somewhat scarier.

All current UEF land-based turret looking structures
Pictured are: 9 Units from Supreme Commander; 1 Unit from Forged Alliance; 5 Units from BrewLAN and; 3 Units from Caffe Corretto (The BrewLAN extra turrets mod). The latest in that group being the tech 1 and 2 anti-armour point defences for Caffe Corretto. An interesting side note. I have just discovered an unintended effect that I am totally going to let slide. If you reclaim the armoured wall from under a turret it has built, you end up with this: https://i.imgur.com/CZOzkcf.jpg

Skulls for the skull throne. This is a new Cybran Experimental Point Defence for Caffe Corretto. Yes, it is the cannon off the Megalith.

Panopticon development shot
A fairly early development shot of the new model for a unit that has existed for a while with very little shown about it because it currently reuses the model from a civilian building; the UEF experimental sensor array, the Panopticon. This doesn't include all structures in the design. It is based on an amalgamation of the SBX-1, Jodrell Bank Observatory, and Goonhilly Earth Station. When it's done it's going to have a great deal more buildings, dishes, antennas, and other assorted observation equipment. I want it to look like it has the capacity to watch literally everything, because it does. The footprint will be increasing to accommodate this design, but that has always been the plan.

New model, unfinished texture. A time-lapse has been recorded. It will be edited soon.

You may notice the scaffolds behind the large dish looks less detailed on this screenshot compared to the previous; this screenshot is taken from further away, and the detailed scaffolds are only visible when very close. Those detailed scaffolds are around a third of the total model file-size.

Now with blue hinge parts. I am currently exporting the time-lapse. It's estimating 18 hours. When it's done it will be available on my patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thebalthassar

Iyadesu development shot
Around 2 and a half hours into creating the new model for the Seraphim Experimental Reconstruction Engineer. Mandibles. That is a funny word. Mandibles. The time-lapse of the Panopticon is now available on my Patreon to $1+ subscribers. My Patreon charges per release, and the last release was 2016, so it's an absolute bargain. See the Panopticon video here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/time-lapse-video-17247013

Some angles of the new Iyadesu model, the Seraphim Experimental Reconstruction Engineer. I have begun work on the texture, but unlike UEF and Cybran textures, Seraphim textures look godawful until they are finished, and I haven't worked out any quick ways to make them not look awful. So here is more 3DSMax clay texture.

Reconstructing the Titans on Seton's Clutch
Some moderate abuse of the wrecks at the centre of Seton's. Should we rename the Iyadesu now that it looks this cool? It's been called Iyadesu for over 6 years (I didn't bother checking when specifically, but I mentioned it in an article from 6 years ago), so I have some attachment to the name, but still. Thoughts?

Research and Development
This screenshot will take some explaining. I have been working on a new mod. When am I not. This one is called Research & Daiquiris, because of course the name needs a drinks theme. It adds research unlocks to the game, not in the SupCom2 style which mostly consists of upgrades, but in a way visually similar to Age of Empires 2, but only consisting of research unlocks for units, not upgrades. So far only UEF has a line of research centres, Tech 1, 2 & 3. They are named after Neil deGrasse Tyson, Carl Sagan, and Stephen Hawking, in that order. While active, all UEF units, and eventually other factions, added by the units sub-mods Caffe Corretto and Bubble Tea, and a few more niche units from BrewLAN require researching to unlock. I say niche units. The Tech 1 power generator is also research locked, and replaced with a wind turbine. So far two turbines exist; visible in the screenshot, and in the background the Tyson Campus Tech 1 Research Centre is researching the Tech-1 Anti-Armour Point Defence. If your're wondering why the world is a cream colour, that is my development blank map for unit icon screenshots. If you are wondering why there haven't been any updates in the past few weeks, it is because I have been in talks with, and have subsequently joined the LOUD team. BrewLAN will continue to be developed and supported for all platforms, and an official FAF release is still planned. I am planning an August 8th release of 0.8. Because releasing 0.8 on 8/8/18 has fabulous marketing potential, and because I might have it done in 4 months. I will have something done in 8 months. If you want to download the latest development version, you can find it here: https://github.com/The-Balthazar/BrewLAN If you have suggestions for the names or naming conventions of the Cybran and Aeon research centres, or any other comment, feel free to post them below.

Tech 3 left, experimental right. Obviously. For a comparison of shield dome size, the large centre dome on the experimental is the same size as the tech 3, and full effective radius is double.

Experimental Shields
Comparison of experimental shields added by BrewLAN and the BrewLAN extra shields mod Bubble Tea. From left to right: Aeon: Pillar of Prominence 12000 mass 220000 energy 1500 energy per second upkeep 4200 health 180000 shield health Included in Bubble Tea. Has a tiny shield dome and projects shields onto nearby buildings. Projected bubbles pass damage evenly between the main bubbles of Pillars in range. UEF: BFS – Stalwart 15000 mass 250000 energy 2000 energy per second upkeep 7000 health 150000 shield health Included in Bubble Tea. Generic single dome shield. Cybran: Iron Curtain 12000 mass 200000 energy 2500 energy per second upkeep 6950 health 140000 shield health Included in BrewLAN. Generic single dome shield. 8 years old next month (Created 2010-06-03). Seraphim: Iaathan 18000 mass 300000 energy 2500 energy per second upkeep (overall) 8400 health 210000 shield health (per ring) Included in Bubble Tea. Creates a lattice of shield generator drones which revolve around the central structure. Each ring of drones has 210000 shield health total, as does the cenral structure. Opperational costs are 2020 for the structure, 50 each for the inner ring drones, and 15 each for the outer ring drones. Deactivating and reactivating the shield averages out the current shield health values across the lattice.

Tornado: UEF Tech 2 Bomber
I created this for the research mod, because the Fighter/Bombers are terrible. This starts locked, and I plan to do dedicated T2 fighters and bombers for all factions, and a Fighter/Bomber for Aeon, with each non-vanilla one starting locked. It's based on the B-45 Tornado, because it seemed like a graphical middle ground between the T1 and T3 UEF bombers. It has a token tail gun.
